Te dejo, Madrid

Spain is such a beautiful country and I am thrilled that I got to spend 9 days there with my mom and a group of Spanish students. I was in serious Broc and Rune withdrawals, but it was such a fun trip so I was able to enjoy myself. It was interesting to observe the teenagers, and it heightened my sympathy for any adults that had to deal with me as a teenager. Suffice it to say, I related to the obnoxious kids that drove the other adults crazy.

My mom and me in front of Madrid's Cervantes/Don Quixote monument:

We got to see cathedrals, mosques, castles, palaces, olive orchards, gypsy caves, and museums.

We even went to a bull fight that was interesting, albeit upsetting.

Below is in the beautiful city of Toledo. This was the first week in several months that I haven't done at least one hike, but I figure I probably climbed enough stairs and walked enough to count for at least one good hike. And I got to work on my Spanish while I was at it.
The weather was beautiful most days, but we got to see 1 of the 2 snow days Madrid sees every year. It was also snowing in London for our layover and then 90 degrees in Mesa when we flew in. Classic.

THANK YOU FOR INVITING ME TO GO, MOM! THANKS FOR LETTING ME GO, BROC! THANKS FOR HELPING WITH RUNE, CATHI!
